Talking Heads - Life During Wartime (LIVE!)

The most important part of this post is the video. It's from the live DVD Stop Making Sense that was recorded in 1984 and confirms any suspicion that David Byrne is truly a mad man. But, he makes a great front man! My favorite part begins at 1:25 when he starts really getting into his dance. This isn't necessarily my favorite Talking Heads song (the synth solo gets kind of silly) but definitely is my favorite live performance of a Talking Heads song. I've been listening to them a lot recently and would recommend downloading their discography, starting from the beginning, and pressing play whenever the SADD starts to creep in.

Yann Tiersen

I don't know how I officially I heard about Yann Tiersen, but I am sure it involves the internet (people talking about him on Facebook, and I'm sure there was something on Pitchfork at some point). He did the soundtrack to every high school indie kid's favorite movie Amelie, which is a lot of piano, and actually if you put on the Yann Tiersen Pandora station you get stuff like Beethoven. So, I wondered, are all these hipsters listening to some serious piano music? No, no they are not. His 2010 album is not just piano, and is a bunch of different instruments. It sounds pretty cool.

Of course, like all good musicians, he did one of those goddamn beautiful takeaway shows that La Blogotheque is responsible for.
